Infamous libel lawyers Carter-Ruck have won a Kafkaesque injunction preventing a British newspaper “…reporting parliamentary proceedings on legal grounds which appear to call into question privileges guaranteeing free speech established under the 1688 Bill of Rights.”. This despite the fact that Law Lord Tom Denning ruled over 30 years ago that comments made in parliament can be reported in newspapers without fear of contempt.
During his lifetime it was obvious, at least to readers of Private Eye, that the legal firm’s founder Peter Carter-Fuck had no shame. The current partners and associates seem set on preserving the notorious shyster’s legacy. Let’s just hope that the Grauniad manages to get the gagging order overturned in court later today.

Victory – the shysters stood down before the High Court beak was called upon to rule.
