Afghan young to raise their eyes heavenwards

The military campaign in Afghanistan may be drawing down, and it is surely time for civil society cooperation to take hold. There are a number of such projects underway already, to which we can now add an educational initiative managed by British science communicator Christopher Phillips and the Afghanistan Astronomy Association. Reach for the Stars aims to establish Afghanistan’s first astronomy curriculum for young children, set in the context of Afghan culture, Islamic astronomical heritage and modern science.
