Inspector Knacker Nicks Sun Journalists Shock!!

Senior journalists working for “The Greatest Paper in the World” have been arrested by police investigating incidents of, er, police corruption. Officers are alleged to have taken bribes from the Murdoch press, and possibly other titles, in return for juicy stories.
The Sun’s associate editor and veteran political columnist Trevor Kavanagh is predictably furious, as he is about many things under the, er, sun. In this case, ignoring such silly headlines as…
“Witch-hunt has put us behind ex-Soviet states on Press freedom”
Kavanagh has a point of sorts. But what’s more interesting than the latest Metropolitan Police media stunt raid on Schloss Wapping is the subtext of Kavanagh’s diatribe, which looks to be indirectly addressed to his boss, Rupert Murdoch…
“[S]ome of the greatest legends in Fleet Street have been held, at least on the basis of evidence so far revealed, for simply doing their jobs as journalists on behalf of the company."
Or, in other words, “We was only following orders”.
My heart, it doth bleed.
