		<description>From my understanding, the heating of the surface led to the halting of subduction processes about a billion years ago.  The gently rolling terrain is not just a result of aggressive weathering and pressure but also due to lack of active mountain-range building.
Of course, I haven&#039;t been keeping up with current research so am perfectly happy to be corrected on this matter.</description>

		<description>How different? As far as I know, Venus displays evidence of plate-like behaviour, only different from that of Earth. Perhaps the Earth-centred model of plate tectonics is lacking.</description>

		<description>Very interesting.  There would naturally be major differences with the weather systems of Earth and Venus, with the absence of oceans being the obvious one.  However the lack of orogenic activity, owing to the high surface temperations halting subduction, is another important difference.</description>
