Pravda comes to London

Former KGB agent Alexander Lebedev is reported to have paid the princely sum of £1 for the London Evening Standard. Given that it can be read for free on the Interwebs, I’d say that the Russian oligarch was robbed.
With such lack of financial acumen, one has to wonder how Lebedev acquired his vast fortune.

I gave up some time ago asking why so few people appeared concerned that solvniks (sp?) and impossibly young Russian businessmen who’d obtained vast fortunes in less than transparent circumstances were now buying up British businesses.

On the other hand, I suppose it’s good that someone buys British businesses. Everyone here seems to think now that money is toxic.
