Hoping for change

Sitting here today in Britainland – with our dull, unimaginative and incompetent politicians, and a people unenthusiastic about their European citizenship – my feeling is that we would be better off as the 51st State of the Union across the Pond. We are like rats whingeing or being gratuitously sarky while our ship sinks, and could do with a bloody good kick up the collective arse.

Here’s to the United States, the American people and their new president!

Wow, you know how many states of the union there are! Obama didn’t when he was campaigning in them.

It’s little more than five minutes since his anointing, and already we’re now bitchin’ about Obama. Sigh.

You have to admit that his speech was rather good. Barack Obama and Jon Favreau – what a combination! I’m cautiously optimistic, and wish Obama and his team well. At least the man has vision. Surely we could do much better over here, though it might require a change in population as well as political leaders.
