Could Morris Dancing save the Olympics?

Paul Reece, Squire of the Morris Ring, has called for Morris Dancing to be made an Olympic sport. This follows the publication in the Thunderer of a short report on the Morris Ring’s annual gathering in the Essex town of Thaxted.

What a splendid idea! If England’s premier folk dance form were in the Olympics, then I might start taking the games seriously.

As for Australian Jack’s comment following Reece’s Times letter, all I can say is that Real Men Morris. Ozzies just whinge and quaff undrinkable beer.
