It was 66 years and 1 day ago that a young girl from Frankfurt, living in exile in Amsterdam, celebrated her 13th birthday. Her present was a notebook, in which she wrote:

“I hope I will be able to confide everything to you, as I have never been able to confide in anyone, and I hope you will be a great source of comfort and support.”

Thanks to Ms Baroque for this. A 66th anniversary may not be particularly notable, but the story about Anne Frank’s birthday present most certainly is. And the picture above is wonderful.
