It would appear that most military experts agree with us, Kellie. Now far be it from me to question Blogger Kamm’s technical knowledge of cluster munitions, but “mil-bloggers” of my acquaintance have commented that Kamm is talking nonsense. Or words to that effect. Kamm appears to be under the impression that cluster munitions of the type cited in the Dublin treaty are precision weapons. They are not.

I can’t see a good reason for keeping them myself. In the kind of counter-insurgency wars happening now they’re inappropriate and counter-productive. And if the West had to fight another large scale war, I can’t imagine that a lack of cluster bombs would leave them short. The ban should encourage Western forces to get smarter, and smarter should win.

Now why am I not surprised that Blogger Kamm is opposed to the cluster munitions treaty, as you point out on your blog, Kellie? Not only am I not surprised, I couldn’t give a monkey’s fart what the Colonel-in-Chief of the 101st Keyboard Worriers thinks.
